keeping cool

Post by stevieg »

Hi All
Just 2 weeks to we arrive....
One question- Our Hotel room (Sol) doesn't have a fridge. Any suggestions for keeping drinks cool on the beach?

Try using a flask. If the drink is cold when you put it in, it should stay cold.

That's easy if you buy the drinks cold and have several large flasks. If you buy the drinks and they're not cold what do you do? I've thought about an electric cool box but don't think it'd be classed as hand luggage on the plane. :?:

The cheap ones I have seen are 12v only which might be a problem in a hotel room.

Thanks everyone
I've found this portable electric cool bag that folds flat to go in a suitcase and runs on 100-240v

OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH you wealthy champagne tourists!
What's wrong with buying a bottle of cold water from the beach bar like the rest of us?

My advice would be instead of going to a hotel, hire an apartment or a villa. The ones we have been to have fridges, freezers etc, just like home and you can set off to the beach with your nice cold drinks in your cool bag. Sorry but I hate hotels, the rooms always seem so cramped, we stayed in the Hotel Sol a few years ago, and only because we got a room at a good price as it was early in the season but never again. Getting dressed up to go for breakfast! Too much like hard work. But having said that the Sol is a nice hotel, and fortunately we all have different ideas of the kind of holiday we enjoy.

wee Beanz,
We are going to the Sol this year just as a taster for CVO. Next year we plan two weeks at an apartment. The kids are going to bring friends with them next year so we'll need a 3-bed apartment or villa in CVO. I too prefer all the mod-cons - beer fridge, tv, sun beds...and, of course the wife needs her washing machine, dishwasher, cooker, iron, etc :D

Cool bag arrived today (2 days after order- not bad) It is fairly light and compact, I was very happy with it until wifey told me Aldi were selling them for £20 last month!!!! She likes to kick the stool from under me. Oh well, when we're on the beach in 10 days time and she wants a nice cold beer....she can walk to Aldi and get her own.
