Apolonia Supermarket in Almancil often has quorn and prepared veggie meals including Linda McCartney stuff. Probably best to call ahead to confirm stock if you are travelling any distance.

The health food shop in The Faro Shopping Centre sells something called 'Setan' its in the chiller cabinet, in blocks of about 500 grams and can be used just like meat. It has a texture totaly different to Quorn, but like Quorn will take on the flavour of what it is cooked with. Fried it makes an excellant subsistute for pork crackling. It costa about 4 euro's. Liz

Crumbs! We stopped and had a discussion about his recently in front of the meat-free products, but in which supermarket? I've only been to Intermarche and the new Modelo in Lagoa recently, so its like this:

• The products are at the top of the supermarket, to the right of the tills.
  
  If its Intermarche, that puts it beside the bread and cakes.
  
  If its Modelo, then its between the beer and the tills.
  
  I really think it was Modelo.

Lidl and Aldi may be possibles. They do bread mix for breadmakers...

Alternatively, you could stop at Apolónia on your way from the airport. Make sure you've got a bank loan to cover the groceries. People always overspend there.

There is also a shop in Portimão called Un'ic, which is across from the Fabrica de Feu (waterfront area). They sell imported foods. Could be worth a try, I can't comment as haven't been yet.

Last suggestion; there's an organic farm shop near the Fatacil. Again, haven't been but it sounds good. I have friends who shop there, if you need more info let me know and i'll ask.
