rain rain rain

Post by fatscholes »

well we arrived back home on saturday after a week in Carvoeiro...the wettest week I have ever seen there. Maybe i have been lucky over the past 27 years but i have never seen such hard & consistent rain than i saw last week. We have been over when we have had poor weather but nothing like that.

But still saying that it was a fantastic week of good food & meeting up with all our friends over there. And i ate 11 sardines in a sitting at Portimao......unheard of a few years ago when i actually didnt eat fish!

Back in March so hopefully better, drier weather then.

Our first trip ever to the Algarve was in January 1966. We stayed in Albufeira and it rained for three solid weeks! I think we had two half afternoons when we sat huddled in a sheltered area by the pool to catch a few rays of sunshine. With nothing elso to do we explored every inch of the area by car and are now coming back in January for the 9th time! Although we have had our share of rainy days over the years, it was never as bad as in 1996. Can't keep us away. Heini

That is pretty bad luck when you travelled so far isn't it.

On the plus side, our big well is full to the brim which is excellent news.

...more like minus 30 C, Laserblazer. So perhaps it wasn't so bad after all

We got there on Friday last week to sunshine, had a glorious afternoon by the sea, wonderful weather on Saturday - went to ZooMarine then spent the afternoon in the sea again, visited the beach on Sunday morning but it was a little chillier then (although no rain at all), then back home.

Think we were a bit lucky!

The first time we came to the Algarve was, I think, 1997. We stayed for a week and it rained for the first 3 days solid. We wondered what we had come to, but then it came out lovely for the rest of the holiday. Always remember we were cooped up in the apartment for those 3 days watching the trial of the English nanny in America!!
Been coming back ever since.
