1st visit

Hi Everyone

I've been reading the posts on here for a few weeks now and have found them very helpful.

I'm flying out to Cavoeiro on 17th Sept; my sister and I are coming with my 14 month old son and we're going to be staying at the Rocha Brava for one week (can't wait!!).

Hope you can please help me on a few things:

1) Do I need to bring baby food? Or is a good variety available in the supermarkets? Do children tend to eat the same as their parents? (my son loves trying different foods!)

2) I know RB has a transport service, but do you think hiring a car is the best way to see the area?

Also any other advice on bringing a baby or the Rocha Brava would be greatly appreciated!

If your going to have pay for transfers from the airport then a car virtually pays for itself if you get it from the airport. The route is pretty easy and driving in Portugal is a doddle. I believe there's an issue with baby seats, so I'd check that beforehand.

If you use one of the big supermarkets you will find a wide range of baby food available that is self-explanatory. It is the same as you would find in the UK. You will find all baby products available there. Restaurants are fine if you want to take in baby food.

As for the car hire, it would be much cheaper to hire the car straight from the airport as a transfer can be as much as 2 days car hire, depending on who you use.

If you need any more advice on travelling to Portugal with babies though, please ask. I travelled with them from 9 weeks old and then moved with my youngest when she was 7 months and now live here permanently. We have just been to the UK and back, got back this morning
