Travel Insurance

Post by Guest »

Can anyone help please. I have booked villa, flights and car hire, but have forgotten travel Insurance. There seem to be so many around, does anyone know which company is best for resonably priced travel Insurance.
Any help shall be gratefully received.

Have you tried M&S? I think they gave my folks a good deal but be careful about restrictions especially if one of the party is already on medication. Unfortunately my Uncle died while on holiday in Spain and despite having travel insurance the company were refusing to pay out for something before they would bring his body home. It took a call from his GP to sort everything out and nearly a month before he was returned.

Try the 'Post Office' or Direct Line Insurance - they have both given us decent travel insurance in the past.

Come on Argentina - if England do get to the quarter finals i do not want them to meet up with the 'best' team so far in the competition!

"which" recommended Direct Travel. We have Europe only annual £48. Which only recommend companies that they consider cover the essentials of any travel policy which is good enough for me. 0845 605 2500

I always use www.1stoptravelinsurance.co.uk Their rates are very low and very easy to book online.

I used AXA which well known and reliable - they offer various standards basic and more complex, It was a little more than we had paid before but we wanted to try more activities this year and thought that as we are accident prome we would pay the little extra which was well worth it!!

Bear in mind unfortunately they wont let you travel till you have insurance now the post office doesnt do E111 form!!

We pay £14 a month on our Nat West gold advantage account, and that covers us for everything, including all travel insurance (apart from if you do dangerous sport) loss of gear, injuries etc..
(memories of having all my money, cards etc, stolen in Lisbon)

arrivng at the police station we were given a form to fill in ( no pen ) also there were a group of Japanese girls, and 3 greman tourists with accompanying priest all had lost something in the previous few hours.
The police do not even try to catch thieves its all part of the ROME experience.

Anyone going there.

Do not carry large bags, do not leave bags/cameras under tables,

Only have a little cash within easy access.

I get laughed at but my secure wallet is on a chain that sometimes is down at knee level ( inside my trousers ).
Never think to take as many precautions in the algarve.

Food for thought ??

Thats what I needed tbbr, a form ! But they said they couldn't help me.
My friend with me (she speaks fluent Portuguese) tried everything and in the end got very angry. Of course, by time I got back to CVO ( 3 days later) it was to late to do anything.
Have to say though, in all the years we've been coming to Carvoeiro, never had anything stolen!
I think you're very wise to take those precautions with your wallet..but have to say I had a funny vision of you (bit like Arkwright, out of 'Open All Hours)
but dont suppose you have a funny walk like him?
