They will be busy, dispite the place where they are they are nice people and everyone saw what they have done with rascals , will see , I am now changing and managing the Bote , wait to see the changes, they will be aswell as other people in town cooperating with me , if everyone helps we might have some good , quality nice places in town, this town deserves to grow up with everyone ............. this will be your future town , so help to build it proper..........................

Rascals bar was the place to go last year for younger people at night.
There was no other bar we liked as much. The cocktails and music were fab, there are loads of normal same bars for older people, with the same singers and faces we have seen every year BORING!! Why shouldn´t we have the same choice as 20 year olds who ever wrote that is so jelouse and sad and you have made yourself look stupid.
We hear that the same family have a new bar Bojangles and we are so happy that we have a place to go and that they have a new bar as they have chemistry between them all that we loved!!
We met loads of people through the rascals team and there is about 20 of us comming back out and we are excited to see the Bojangles bar and wish the best bar people all the luck. If youve got it flaunt it and they have got it... Best wishes see you in August.xx

Myself and my girlfriend and five of our mates visited rascals two years ago when karen and steve first took over, we only went there as we had heard it was the place to go. We met all the crew and loved the vibe. We visited them twice in that year and a further two times last year and it was so nice to go somewhere we would go at home but in the sun.
Where ever they go they will make it. They have something no one else has and we will be drinking at there new bar 100% JUst hope that they still have strawberry daquiris and snow flake in hell shots....

We all wish them well in their new venture.

I think every age range needs a place to go to and I think that the main problem there was not with the regulars who enjoyed going to Rascals and coming back again and again but with a small crew of local (well close to local) youngsters who were determined to cause trouble.

Unfortunately, you'll get that in every city or town you go to and it is indeed unfair to tar a place because of it.

I agree with some of these comments. Ok, so it's true that Rascals didn't have the best reputation in recent years, and although some of the sarky comments did make me smile, i find it unwarranted. I suspect that Carvoeiro caters mostly for golfers and very young families, who like nothing better than a quick karaoke after a meal. However, if young people have nothing to do in such a small village, what motivation would there be for them to come back? Don't get me wrong, I do love Carvoeiro, but find my nights are better spent in praia da rocha or albufeira. Let the kids have somewhere to go!

If the teenagers are bored, (not an uncommon trait with the young) there are plenty of other lively resorts around the Med! Carvoeiro offers something for everyone if you are willing to look!

I agree that carvoeiro has a lot to offer, but the average teenager will not be content without a few nights out. Im sure you know what the brit culture is like

My kids spend so much time clubbing in the UK that when they come to Carvoeiro all they want to do is sunbathe, swim, eat good food, & totally veg' out.

If teenagers want a lively holiday there are many other places to go on holiday. Ibiza, The Costa's. Majorca, Canaries, Greece, Cyprus and many more - why choose somewhere that will probably not have the nightlife that they require in the first place? Carvoeiro is usually described as a 'quietish' village where nightlife is not abundant!

When i was in my 20's and 30's - i had my fair share of getting back from the disco/bar to the apartment as the sun was coming up and then collapsing on a sun lounger for a few hours then visiting local attractions before the start of the next night.

But could not do that now - as i realise now that i have got older that there is more to a holiday than discos. If that was just what i required from a holiday i might aswell stay at home, save money on airfares etc and get a spray tan!

I think you contradicted yourself there Julie (as we all do on occasion

) when you said you 'partied all night' and visited local attractions.

There is more to a holiday than discos and trendy bars and I would imagine that is what many of the young people who visit CVO and 'need' a venue like Rascal/Bojangles also think. They just want a couple of places to meet up with other younsters.

Plus I get the impression that many of these youngsters are not the 18-30 picking CVO by mistake but the offspring of golf playing, villa owners who 'have' to come out to CVO with mum and dad and want some of their own space in their agegroup/culture whilst they are there.

When i was a 'youngster' i went on holiday to the places where i expected alot of nightlife - my mum and dad would always go on their separate holiday!
If the 'youngsters' come out to Carvoeiro with their parents then why don't they try the nightlife in the other resorts.

I am sure that many of them do Julie - certainly the older 'youngsters'.

Speaking though as a parent of teenagers (who are not yet of an age where I would be happy for them holiday alone) - I respect their need to enjoy their holiday their way (except when I am insisting that they visit museums/churches

) however as they are still teenagers would personally not be happy for them to go off to other resorts on their own at night whilst I am not unduly concerned about them being out alone in the village (this may be naive - foolish even of me

).

To be honest CVO is hardly running amok with youths and the provision of one or two venues that provide youngsters both holidaymakers and locals alike doesn't seem the end of the world to me.

Looks like 'Rochas' has good plans for 'The Bote', so would think that would be worth a look in for you youngsters!

Julie, I was same. From age of just 15, I was off on holidays with mates and rarely went on one with Mum. Mostly holiday camps then, Butlins, Warners etc..but had wow of a time! The '60's and all that went with it..but of course, as Cowboy would say, I don't remember any of it.......

I always consider Carvoeiro a 'family' place..and theres fun to be had for all ages after dark....as I know only too well....
