Driver Ed.
Education, education, education .......
Having done a few thousand miles on two wheels and having also had a (thankfully minor) motorcycle accident I can only be SO grateful for the high standards of motorcycle training in the UK.
Yes... I know I could still be a total hooligan if I wanted to. But the education I have had on two wheels (and indeed on four wheels) means that I make I so much more informed decision about whether to be a hooligan. (Personally I try to keep the hooliganism to a track where the only person likely to get hurt is myself).
I posted on another part of this site about the Portuguese male machismo behind the wheel or on a motorbike. It is largely responsible for Portugal's still appalling road fatality statistics. And I say this as somone who is half Portuguese, so I kind of know how it feels.
I really don't know the answer ..... and I feel awful for the families that have been wrecked by this young lad.
My personal feeling is that anyone who has caused death by reckless driving should NEVER be allowed to drive a motor vehicle again .... if you let them drive you are just effectively giving them another weapon.
