Mardi Gras

We are arriving on Monday, Feb 27th this year, later than usual for various reasons.

It occurred to us yesterday that the next day, Tuesday, must be "Fat Tuesday", leading us to conclude that that weekend is the long weekend associated with Mardi Gras in Carvoeiro.

Are we correct?

And, if so, does anyone recall if Intermarche or the stores at Algarve Shopping, grocery store in particular, will be open at all on the Monday or Tuesday?
