If I had the choice between "Chocs" and "Chou", I think "Chou" will be deeply offended only by considering the choice. :oops:

[quote="gerrit"]digger,

What do you have against Belgium and Brussels ?? :evil:

Two months agoo, you didn't like the bloody belgian tourists :cry:

Now, there is something wrong with the Brussels Sprouts. :x

If Digger knew the common french name for brussels sprouts, he probably should have been more careful :?

CHOU DE BRUX(inha)ELLES

Ellie or Bruxinha, could you help Digger with the meaning of "Chou" ? :)

I like that Gerrit,
'Choux de 'Brux' 'Elles' !
Chou of course = cabbage
Did you also know its a French term of endearment? :
'Mon petit chou' ( my sweetheart) :lol:
and written twice,
Chouchou = teacher's pet! :)
Quite a sweet little thing isn't it, the humble sprout?..or should I say 'Chou' :wink:

sorry ladies. can’t make it. I’m a bit busy over the next few days, and the leftover sprout season will soon be over. Anyway… to be honest, I am not too fond of B S, my only interest is in how others deal with the problem of leftovers. so keep sending in those tips.

chopped some brussel sprouts and pan-sauteed them with some olive oil, shallots, garlic, two or three anchovy fillets and some hot pepper flakes, then tossed the entire mix with some penne, topped it off with a little fried herbed breadcrumbs.

2 medium sized Onions cut into small pieces
3 Tomatoes cut into small pieces
4 Green Chillies, sliced
Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Chilli powder 1 tbsp
Brussel Sprouts 10 to 12
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Garam Masala Powder 1/2 tsp

Add oil in the cooking pan, crackle mustard seeds
Add onions to it and fry till golden brown
Add the cut tomatoes and chillies and cook for 5 mins
Add the brussel sprouts and all the other ingredients. (coriander powder, chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder and garam masala)
Pour a tbsp oil on top, stir well, simmer and close with a lid. Check in between to see if the sprouts are cooked. When done... it is ready to be served with Rice or Chappatis.
But very nice with cooked ones too.

We have rather a lot left over. The children were kindly helping with the food on Christmas Day, but I forgot to tell them to stop preparing sprouts.
