music in the square

Post by norwich boy »

Hi everyone
I am coming out to CVO first 2 weeks in July, my 5th consective yearly trip. I always enjoy my visits but have noticed that over the past 2 trips, the music in the square is hardly ever on. It used to be every night a few years ago.
Does anyone know if the music is coming back or is it a thing of the past?
Thanks :

I believe its back on this year 2 or 3 nights per week.
Promise of only quality performers!
Others might have more information.

Sorry I am a member, but have tried without success all of my passwords!!

Glad to see the music in the square is on the agenda for this year although I seemed to remember a reasonable program last summer - the Portuguese version of Tom Jones was one unforgettable performer, although judging by the reaction of the locals, he is very poplular and a national star!! Ilse the Dutch singer is always worth listening to, and hopefully the organisers will include her in this years schedule.

 hey London Guest, was that the bloke in a white shirt open to the waist and white trousers, with grey hair?? he was terrible, we were having dinner at Martin's Grill at the time and couldn't stop laughing. If he is a National hero no wonder we got some funny looks!!

Have to agree Kelly!
Had some terrific nights in the square September 03.....singing and dancing...
we enjoyed listening to 'Filomena Batista'..young Portuguese girl with sweet voice and very good on keyboard ( Pic of her on 'Ellie's Corner'/Nights in the square !)..
and there was another young fella on guitar..but didn't get his name..sang lotta latin American stuff..and he really got us all going...he performed for over 3 hours! :)

Many thanks for all the replies. Does anybody know where I could get hold of a list or program, that sort of thing listing when music is on and when it isn't?
That way, I won't have a wasted evening to a quiet square and can take the opportunity to explore others parts of the Algarve nightlife.
Thanks

Why not pop down to Hay Hill (next to top shop) and listen to the busking Peruvian pan pipes band to get you in the mood before you go out to CVO.
