Lift one brick and you should be able to cope. But (try to) lift five bricks together and you have a problem. Now for bricks, read suitcases and I think you can see what everybody is trying to get across.

Obviously I realise the common sense between taking one large overweight suitcase as opposed to five smaller ones, but perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough - the large suitcase we took was only a couple of llbs overweight, whereas if we had taken five, the suitcases themselves are heavy enough these days, as they mostly all have wheels and some handles! - and I thought I was being really efficient, cramming everything in to one! -

The limit per bag varies by airline, but the average is 32 Kilos. The reason as previously mentioned is for ease of handling the bags airside. There is another reason and that is it is easier to ensure the aircraft is in trim by distributing the bags in the hold. Don't forget that all this takes time in the one hour average turn around and the airline would soon be criticised for delays.

Who in their right mind brings bricks on holiday, unless of course you are going to Legoland

I may appear a bit slow with this one but think even I could handle a few bricks..and I always take my toys on holiday with me..
