I think the split is a good idea although some streamlining of topics would be useful, why do we have "Food" and "Restaurant Reviews" seperately for example - to me thats seems superfluous but that is just my opinion.
The "Jokes" heading and even "Smokey Joes" within that section were both created following complaints about the main forum being used for non cvo related topics and and off topic banter within discussions - so we should face up to the fact that people have been complaining about this since the forum began. And indeed "Banter" on MSN was also created to placate the vociferous members and guests who felt many of us were using the platform of the forum incorrectly.
Of course I agree with Ellie, Michael, etc that the General Forum may well become bland and dry, that most discussions we have in life veer all over the show and that undoubtedly the content of some posts on there will be become irrelevant and perhaps the Chit Chat header will be the automatic place to post if you are loooking for a diverse range of opinions on a diverse range of topics but what we now have is a confirmed place to go post almost what we like and need not fear being dressed down like naughty children when the topic takes a wild detour - and bravo for that!!
Maddi
p.s. and those who hold strong views about "irrelevant" topics, banter, even sexual innuendo know what section to avoid - easy, everyone happy . . . . until the next THING!
