Where to go on holiday
According to the Daily Express, these are the places with high terror alerts to be wary of:
Somehow, this does not really make me feel safe

Looks like it's Poland then this year?
I was in Spain last week - Madrid and Valencia - and the high police presence was reassuring.
No doubt because of the terrorist train attacks each platform at the Madrid railway station had x-ray machines and security checks which also gave a feeling of safety.

We are off to Qatar next week. Having been before it feels safer than places like central London. Only problem is having to depend on our daughter to get a bottle of Gordon's in!

The London Marathon starts where I live; walking past it today I've never seen so much security, they've really beefed it up, fences, security guards, & this is just the start, The Mall must look like Fort Knox.
it's the world we live in as we all know, all very sad.

he's here & telling us to stay in Europe because they don't want to send any more troops to their death if we get involved in another war & need their help, widge wrote:Isn't Obama in town this weekend ? Think he's having a birthday dinner with Liz & Phil !
The Queen was world class yesterday, 90 years young & her 94 year old hub were standing up in the back of a Range Rover waving to the huge crowds; they've always been defiant to the threat of terrorism & at that age I'm impressed they can stand up at all never mind in the back of a moving car
good luck on Sunday Cereza, my best mate got married on the day you last met Man U at Wembley, all his family had headphones in during the church service

Over the last months there have been plenty of opinions expressed on this forum, concerning events in other countries.cereza wrote:I hope Liz tells him to keep his nose out of our referendum business !!
Are you saying Obama doesn't have the same rights to express an opinion?

I think the answer to that question is:Mike Banks wrote:Are you saying Obama doesn't have the same rights to express an opinion?
"He has every right to express an opinion - as long as it's the same as mine !"
Re: Where to go on holiday
My beef with the Americans and Obama butting in is that they are only interested in themselves and are trying to sway opinion in our country in order to serve their best interests and not ours! Can you imagine them ever entering a Federal block with say the Central American countries ? Or for our PM advising them to do so ? No way would that ever happen. What precedent is there for a US President directly interfering in the democratic process of another first world country ? They talk of the Special Relationship but it only applies when they need us such as when Bush got Blair to sit up and beg - Remember "Yo Blair" ?
Our Queen can't give an opinion so why should Obama who has ended up as one of the most despised Presidents by his own people !!

Re: Where to go on holiday
I remember the Americans didn't give a hoot when we stood alone in world war 2 why they're concerned whether or not we leave Europe baffles me.
Re: Where to go on holiday
I think that deep down the Americans don't really understand or trust the Europeans so they want us in the EU to protect the interests of the USApato wrote:I remember the Americans didn't give a hoot when we stood alone in world war 2 why they're concerned whether or not we leave Europe baffles me.

Unfortunately we can't protect our own interests.cereza wrote:I think that deep down the Americans don't really understand or trust the Europeans so they want us in the EU to protect the interests of the USApato wrote:I remember the Americans didn't give a hoot when we stood alone in world war 2 why they're concerned whether or not we leave Europe baffles me.
