Have a look at http://www.cp.pt. You will find timetables, prices etc and you can view in English.

Look for special prices - today I received an e-mail with an offer price of € 22 return Lisboa - Faro. Also look for over 60, student, day return etc. discounts.

Last time we used the Alfa Pendular we went from Tunes, not too far from Silves and usually plenty of free parking next to the station. Best to buy tickets in advance on line or at the station. I believe my over 60's return was about 25 Euros and Gill's a bit more. These were 1st class. As far as I am aware the fast electrified line going North starts at Tunes so all traffic from Faro or elsewhere is slow running on diesel.
