The resort has one of the best situations in Carvoeiro near to all the facilities.A heated pool will only add to the existing appeal to both adults and children, with regard to cost when they are spread over the owners on the resort I don't think It can be called crazy.Surely the aim of any Good resort is to offer as many facilities as possible.

From my experience, its actually the shoulder months of April-June and Sept-Oct when a heated pool really comes into its own and will increase bookings.

In the Winter, its too cold getting out or in - for me anyway !

Could not agree more. Used to live on a development near Portimao, same scenario. Cost a fortune to keep the pool heated on our Communial charges. Was great in the quiet times, but could not use the facilities when the Tourists were out owing to the abuse, noise and couples doing naughty things in the Whirlpool bath. That's why I moved out.

I don't see many people using a heated pool here Nov-Feb, the air temp is just too low plus the rain/wind we have in winter, and especially if you have to walk a way to the pool, and the heating costs could be astronomical - electric is just getting more and more expensive in Portugal - and the pool will have to be covered or the heat pump will never cope at night and all the heat built up during the day will be lost. At the low winter rental rates you'll need to get quite a few more bookings to cover the running costs all in all, it's a nightmare.

It surely depends on how many owners wish to buy into the heated pool project as to how much it's going to cost each apartments owners. There is certainly not a 100% agreement amongst owners, different people have differing priorities and some owners are not interested in having a heated pool or a jacuzzi.

We have told M/D categorically that we do not wish to take part in this scheme,as somebody has already pointed out the cost of electricity in Portugal is high, and is set to rise again shortly. It would seem rather a foolish project to carry forward at this time.

Oh a public jacuzzi as well - another nightmare to heat and keep clean - it would have to be kept even warmer than a pool, and the health and safety implications are horrific if it is not maintained to the highest standard - I know someone who died of legionnaires when he'd only visited a hot tub showroom and inhaled spray from the jets of a badly maintained tub - it's a lawsuit waiting to happen or a major investment in time and money and staff that know what they're doing

A lovely bacteria soup, from lots of random sweaty people, to sit in - no thanks

I live here full time and have done so for years, we don't heat our own pool as we don't feel the investment required warrants the extra use that we would get - that's our choice, but to impose it on a development full of private owners is just stupid

Good news Richard, all they need to do now is knock the swimming pool idea on the head.
