Encouraging signs

Post by Bruce Wallis »

It was a pleasure to return to Carvoeiro this week, and to find the place with a buzz about it.

It was also good to find that whilst one restaurant is to leave us, that other restaurants have enjoyed a good season.

It's good to be back.

Shame we missed you both. We also thought that for the 3 weeks we were out how lively and busy the area was. Still needing to book at some restaurants even during the second week of September.

Have a great time :)

I agree - we thought there was a buzz about the place last week and at the beaches, beach bars etc.

Yes agreed.
We just got back early hours this morning after 11 days in CVO.
Pretty busy.
I'd booked Happys a few weeks ago, thankfully, because as usual Libby had to turn some people away.
I booked Elle and Ela when we got there and on the evening we were in there it was rammed and the 9 o'clock sitting was also fully booked.
Round Up busy on most evenings. Bar Talvez doing a decent trade - all in all pretty busy.

Stayed in quiet area of Albufeira this time (Areias Sao Joao). However, we made three visits to CVO. Found everywhere seemed much busier than recent September breaks. We always park in the small area up by the church and walk down the hill to the square. First time ever that we've found all spaces taken on two occasions. That was first week of September, second week a bit quieter, but still fairly busy. In fact the car parking situation was a good indicator of how much busier the Algarve was this month. At almost everywhere we visited we had to hunt around a lot more for somewhere to park in places where there is usually no problem. I think numbers were boosted by what seemed to be a lot more Portuguese families this time, although I was told that the second week was quieter because Portuguese schools were about to re-open and families tend to return home the week before to prepare for the new term. Restaurants and bars also seemed to be more crowded than last year.
