Visa debit for rental car?
Evening all, heading over tomorrow and my credit card has been nicked, leaving me with my visa debit, will this be acceptable for car rental companies in Portugal to use to take deposit? We booked with firefly car rental....not a good start to the holiday as our villa is quite rural and car is necessary.
I remember a few years back giving a cash deposit with one of the rental companies..I think.
Any advice much appreciated.

They now all seem to want you CC details to hold against damage etc.
We usually pay for the hire with a debit card but still have to leave CC details.
But if they have your debit card and you explain your circimstances I would hope that you would be OK.
IF not ask around when you arrive there are loads of companies with cars for hire.
