Is the entertainment to your taste?

Post by steve »

Overheard in the square from a group of young ladies one night last when a band of musicians featuring an accordion were playing “ This is f****** s*** with a capital f and a capital s. I suppose we will have to try that f******* foam party.

Comforting to know that the UK education system still equips our kids with the ability to issue succinct and incisive critiques on life.

Last night the square was full of families and others enjoying the music being played by the DJ on the stage.
There were two guitarists in the Black stove playing acceptable covers and the usual caterwalling coming from the Roundup
More than enough to suit most tastes.

We're just back and had a great time, particularly enjoying the fact that there was something on in the square each night. However, completely unimpressed and nonplussed by the dragged-up "living statue" with the balloon boobs by the taxi rank. Completely witless anywhere - but in Carvoeiro?

I understand where you are coming from, but assume the majority of people in the square are tourists and they would not notice the repitition . (the 2 girls had started when we were out in June and will (hopefully) still be going strong when we return in late August)

I remember a couple of years ago when there was a fantastic orchestra accompanied by fireworks in the square, it was brillant, wish they would do it again.

Just back after 2 weeks in an apartment overlooking the entertainment. While the artists were not all to my liking, I think there was somone there for most tastes. The guy that was on last Sunday was the best, as he had the songs and voice that even my teenage kids liked. As we usually spent some time sitting on the balcony with some sangria each night, before or after a meal, it was interesting to see the artists that people like and disliked. I was judging this by the amount of people who were in front of the stage and in the Grand cafe, etc watching. Some artists drove people away, it seems, as the square was empty and the music finished well before 12. Maybe the committee (or whoever organises it), should observe the artists that seem to attract a crowd and those that dont, so they can see what changes could be made.
For teenagers, and maybe early 20's, why not have some younger bands that play chart hits? It wouldnt do any harm to cater for this age group on at least one night.

It's probably difficult finding the right artists at the right time. The longer the event goes on, the better chance there is of finding the right pegs to suit the corresponding orifice.
