Car Hire Lisbon Airport

We have Swedish friends who now always fly into Lisbon.

Apart from cheaper flights, EJ now fly from Copenhagen , ideal for Southern Sweden, car hire in high season can be 25-30% lower than Faro. They use the ECH web site.

It also looks that if they leave the A22 at the Albufeira junction ( first after the motorway from Lisbon ) they will avoid any toll issues on the A22.

I've never had reason to compare, so I don't know. Logically it could be cheaper as the trade is Lisbon supposedly is regular all year round where as the Algarve only is busy for a few months.

We did it once with BMI a few years ago and it was cheaper than going into Faro. Used Avis car hire as they have bases at both airports. Don't use them now as very expensive compared to ECH etc.

hi,
we often take this route.
its fairly straight forward
just take the n10 from the airport
cross to the ic1 close to Setubal.
Leave the IC1 at the turn for Silves
Silves-Lagoa-Carvoeiro

Normally takes just over 4 hours and uses about 1/3 of a tank of fuel - zero tolls and normally not much traffic once you get away from Lisbon
