tolls update anyone?
tolls update anyone?
HI
We are travelling back on Thursday and wanted to check whether the tolls were going to be in effect from 1 September as had been rumoured?
Cheers

We arrive Saturday 3rd - was hoping to beat the toll start date. Just my luck if they begin on the 1st!
Re: tolls update anyone?
From the lack of replies can we take it that nothing has happened and the A22 is still free for the time being?

Much digging around on the internet only throws up speculative comments and reports and no-one seems to know the definitive answer to this. Is there not an official website which provides news updates on the situation with precise information? That would be handy.
We arrive next Thursday, and my current feeling is that I'm going to deal with it when something happens - until then I'm just going to drive the A22 as I normally would (which will be a few trips this year taking some of our group back to airport early). Hopefully the guys at the car hire desk will inform me what to do when I pick the cars up, and if not then I can only assume the tolls aren't in place and I don't need to worry. It's probably a bad way of going about it, but that's the way I roll!

I would think that when you see the costs go up on the motorway boards that is when they will start charging. So if anyone see's that happen let us all know PDQ.

This is the article in this week's Resident newspaper, no date yet given as to when and if the tolls will take effect:

Re: tolls update anyone?
Well, we arrive tomorrow and still no tolls. Hope our two weeks pass by before it happens (if it ever does). I would have thought that the authorities would have to at least announce the actual start date in advance to give motorists fair warning. If they give two weeks' notice that will do for me. By the time we return in May all early problems will have been ironed out (or will they?).
