Very long way to walk from Centinenes to town, big hill as well. , probably not for fit people like Bruce W(LB have you never cut through Monte Carvoeiro to town from Vila Nova, it bypasses the hill)

LB have you never cut through Monte Carvoeiro to town from Vila Nova, it bypasses the hill
If the town is 10 metres above sea level and Vila Nova is 50 metres, then you have to climb 40 metres whichever way you go. I still maintain that it would take a very fast walker to do it in 10 minutes and they would be sweating like a pig in summer.

If you call at the cocktail garden on the way down you can do it in five :D

We stayed at the Apartments next to Carvoeiro Tennis Club.
It has a shared pool and there are only 20 or so apartments. Really enjoyed it and would recommend it. Prices are reasonable as well.
If you look on owners direct there are still a few available.
