Trains, planes and car hire

Flying to Lisbon in June with return flight from Faro. Couple of days in Lisbon then train to Algarve. Planning to hire car in Algarve. Usually use drive 4 fun. Any tips on where to pick up car? Was thinking of train Lisbon to Faro, collect car in Faro near station hopefully and return car Faro airport. Anyone advise on if this is possible I.e. Pick up and drop off of car at different places. Presumably there is a train service Lisbon to Faro? Cheers

Why not use the car hire company Algarvedriver.com which sponsors this site, their rates are very good and they will drop the car to you in the Algarve as long as you give them an address/time and return to the airport. We nearly always use this company and have found them very reliable.

no problem - there is an express service Faro- Lisbon and several car hire companies will let you pick up at Faro station and drop off at airport - failing that you can always get a bus to the airport. Enjoy the drive

Thanks for the replies. Will algarvedriver allow me to collect car in CVO and drop off at Faro airport? I believe I can get train from Lisbon to Estombar (with possibly one change of train).

Yes Algarvedriver will arrange for you to have a hire car in Carvoeiro and then return to
Faro Airport, our friends did this in January this year.
