Re: O Alambique
It is a little more expensive than most I would say but the quality is brilliant in my opinion, and well worth it. We eat here a lot when we are over.
Starters range from E3.50 - E8
Mains average about E15 - E18
Desserts approx E5 - E7
Good house wines

Lesley can you tell me when it is that you go to O Alambique because every time we've been there's noone else there, I like the menu & the foods really good but my husband has been put off by the complete lack of atmosphere & the snotty waiter. I keep telling him that we just must have been unlucky because others have said how good it is. So when is it that it takes off? It's not far from us so would like to use it more often as it is we tend to go to O Leo in Porches which also has the benefit of a nice terrace in the summer.

Re: O Alambique
Web address is - http://www.alambique.de/x/home.html
It is situated in Poço Barreto, near Silves. If you take the road out of Silves past the Colina Dos Mouros Hotel and keep on that road you will come to Poco Barreto, the restaurant is on the left hand side before you reach the village.
Blue, It has just announced that it has it's opening on the 1st March (they have had to do a bit of work this winter) with a buffet style menu and entertainment with the owners other half who is Brazilian playing the guitar and singing (he is very good) why not see if you can go to that it should be busy and you will get a feel for the place when it is busy. We go when ever we are out in Portugal including the summer months, in the autumn it can be a little quiet but we have never been the only ones there. A note on the waiter, he has a very 'quirky' sense of humour and over the years we have got to know him, he isn't so snooty when you think of him as a Portuguese Gok Wan!! He is so camp he makes us laugh....
