Just a little tip,if you are driving from Faro airport and have arrived late, turn off at Guia and follow signs to Algarve shopping where Continente is open until 11pm (or it may be 12).Only for the adventurous of course!

Many thanks for the tips, everyone. May
Also thanks for the advice.
I haven't done much shopping in the Algarve yet and although I'm not much of a shoppaholic I'm itching to get to know what's out there shop-wise!
Are there the sort of shops you would find in the UK high street - like WHSmith or Boots or any department store types?
Thank you

Algarve shopping has a really large Continente hypermarket, lots of clothes shops, Worten electrical (bit like Dixons or Currys) a sports shop, book shop and some nice 'knick knack' shops like warehouse and gato preto.
There is also a cinema with english language films (portuguese subtitles), ten pin bowling and an american-style food court with fast food and traditional portuguese food.
Worth a visit, especially if the weather is not great in winter - you could spend the day there!
