If the government asks people to help them out then that is a sure fire way of getting a non-response especially with the disgusting filthy-greed of MPs when they all tried to cover it up. It is tantamount to Fagin passing a dossier to Ye Olde Scotland Yard on pickpocket suspects.
I have seen people cheat the system and I will not report them as I believe in Karma; those sort of things bounce back and hit you in the face. Yes, it is very wrong to fiddle the system, but the system is fiddled with because of the woeful checks made on it.
I knew of somebody who reported another man who was on disabled benefits. The man was indeed disabled with a bad heart but he had a Saturday job for 3 or 4 hours just checking the stock of goods in a local shop. It was not physical work; just a pen and clipboard job, The money was weaker than petty cash! The owner of the business gave the man him a job as a favour as his little girl died of cancer a year or two previously. He was reported and fined. But what happened to the informer? Within a couple of years his son became a drug user and a complete violent schizo!
It is up to the individual to decide if they want to report a fiddler, fiddling the system. The comedian Dara Ó Briain once made an ingenious comment on learning the Irish language which the Irish government was trying to increase without much success. Dara said: make it a criminal offence to learn Irish and the Irish would immediately learn it in a huge en masse!
Therefore taking this logic a stage further: make it a criminal offence to report benefit cheats and the DSS would soon be swamped with MILLIONS of 'phone calls and letters.
