We use the BBC weather for Portimao, you would be surprised how much local variation there is between Faro and Carvoeiro.

Today(Friday) it has been pouring down of and on. Never knew the weather could be this bad. Still, at least it was warm. Not bad though here: 13 days of sunshine and the last day was rotten - i think of it as a London weather induction course ;)

James - as a property owner with a garden - the rain is heaven sent and while I apologise to any of you who are on holiday - with water costing what it does - the rain is very welcome :)

Our son arrives Sunday afternoon & I've been told that the weather is going to clear for next week, so fingers crossed. It's not cold, even with the rain lashing down we've had patio doors & windows open.

Been here in the area since 24th Sept. (Regular visitor 2 forum but never really posted). Have to go back Sunday, real downer as last few days have been (weather wise) not good, but if you know the area then what the heck, it's a great place to be!! Even when it rains it's not a hassle...warmer then back home !!!!Again had great time and really enjoyed Murray's farewell night at Hemingway. best wishes to dave and sharon.

Hi,
The other half and I have taken a winter break to CVO in Dec/Jan for the last few years and we've always come back with a suntan. Even in Dec/Jan you'll get a few hours a day were the sun is quite hot, if the sky is clear and you keep out of the breeze. The breeze can be cold and it will be a bit chilly in the morning and evening. So Oct should be absolutely great, hot during the day if the skies are clear.

Regards

Ray & Carole

I had a look at the Tavira estuary webcam earlier today and it was FOGGY!

Then I took a look at the Praia da Rocha webcam and it was a gloriously sunny afternoon.

There is quite often a marked difference between the weather to the east of Faro and that to the west. It works both ways - I have seen dark grey clouds over Sagres while it has been clear blue skies in Tavira.
