Unhygienic toilets at Faro Airport

Post by Gary/Gaynor »

Been thinking of whether to post this on the forum BUT having arrived at Faro airport early yesterday morning for a 9am flight back to Holland I was greeted with the most unhygienic toilets I have seen in a long time. Sanitary bins overflowing in toilets, water on the floors, dirty toilet brushes, some toilets had no toilet paper, dirty sinks, I could go on....people were just walking out. These are the toilets in the main dept area and not the ones upstairs in the canteen area which were pretty clean. Gary and I have been coming to Portugal 3 to 4 times a year for the past 6 years but had never seen such a sight and this was early in the morning so nothing had been done overnight obviously, as this was an accumulation. Not sure is they have cut down on staff or changed the cleaning contract but feel as though I need to send a letter to the airport facilities dept. Anyone know who are the best to contact as I really do think a note is in order.

We must have been ther around the same time. They've changed the layout at the Costa Coffee place again and talk about slow! I gave up in the end and went airside only to find the little cafe that side was closed. We used the toilets next to the cafe and the Gents was fine.

The ladies toilets were terrible, never know this before, such a shame, could be a 'one off', lets hope. Upstairs toilets were all fine though.
BTW lovely to meet you all on the curry night, do let us know when you are out again, will be lovely to meet up for drinkies even a meal.

Maybe they only clean them up for peak times or may be the person on duty that morning was off-sick or something? However, that is no excuse for them to be in that condition.

The toilets in the Jumbo shopping complex in Faro are very unique. You use your foot to flush the toilet which is a button based near the ground.

Back to the airport issue. I have yet to see passport control officers on arrivals smile or even raise a smile! I know it is a thankless boring job but a smile would not go amiss! :?

They seem to be more cheerful on the Arrivals desks, so perhaps they are reacting to the people they deal with. On Arrivals, they are almost the last step before reaching the sun. :)

I was more talking of arrivals at Faro. There is one woman passport officer there whom I see often. She is very glamorous with very beautiful styled hair but by god you wouldn't want to argue with her - not that I would or want to! :D
