Just returned home after 1st CVO visit

Post by Satsuma »

Returned to the UK on Friday after our 1st CVO visit & can only give good reports. Visited this forum frequently before going & found out so much info that it helped us to make the most of our 4 day visit.
We stayed in Casa Rustica apartment which was ideal, quite central but just far away enough from the bar noise. Lovely sea view! Had a great meal at Ele & Ela but our favourite meal was at O Galeria which I hadn't heard mentioned before. We arrived at about 9.30pm on Monday & headed to the first place that had a few people in. The Dourada melted in my mouth & the service was friendly. We were also nicely surprised with the restaurant prices as seem much better quality & value for money than in the UK.
There is so much to do in the area, we fitted in the mountains in Foia & Monchique, Silves, Vilamoura & went to the Eastern Algarve but enjoyed mostly just driving along the coast & discovering the many coves in the area. And of course Carvoeiro beach is lovely.
This post is really just to thank all this forum's members for their tips & advice as it was invalueable to us as helped us to get the best out of our,too short, break.

Hi, joined the forum this morning as we're visiting CVO (and Portugal) for the first time in June. We're also staying in Casa Rustica Apt A so found your posting very helpful. Like you we're planning to use the forum to do as much groundword as possible before our visit.

Glad you enjoyed the experience of CVO. Now an ol'member on here (we have out own place in CVO) It is good to collect views and reviews on this forum but also to explore for yourselves what the Algarve has to offer as we all have our own opinions of what it hot and what is not. Hope you enjoy many more visits. Gary and I are out again in June after a few months away from the place due to other committments. we have missed the ol'place.

I'm really very unhappy with all these positive glowing reports of CVO - they are all absolutely true and it's going to make it even  more popular

glad you enjoyed it

Glad you had a great visit, we also like O Galeria and have had some very good meals there, it gets very busy in the summer which ends up with the quality and service going down hill a bit so if you use it out of season it will not disappoint.

We also have a property near to Cvo and use the town as our nearest area for a walk, beer/wine and a meal. Altho' when it gets busy we tend to keep away from the town and use our local places more.

Last weekend the weather was great, the new square was lively with locals and vistors sitting in the sun.The beach was quite busy with more than a few very red brits sunbathing by the wall.
We had coffee in the sun outside of Hemingways and late afternoon drinks on our way home at the new sports bar at monte carvoeiro.
We too tend to stay at home in July/August but from April-June and Sept- early Nov it beats the UK anytime.
Visitors please ingore those who complain about lack of car parking. park on the outskirts, Algar seco, monte Carvoeiro village market etc and enjoy the views as you walk into town.
