newbie looking for best place to stay

Hello, we are coming to Carvoeiro for first time at end month. With 3 kids 10 12 and 13. Was going to book Vale D'Oliveiras but could not find any reviews which makes me nervous. Sounds fab and has indoor pool which may be needed given the weather! But twitchy not being able to read what anyone else has to say. Help and views appreciated. Thanks. Paul

I stayed there once a coupe of years ago - nice place, but its a bit far away. Have you tried Solferias? - no indoor pool but plenty of room for the kids and not too far from the beach (1km) - there is a hill though!! but there is also a hotel bus.

It's almost 5 kms to the centre of Carvoeiro, but if you have a car it should be fine. The only drawback is if you go out at night to eat someone has to drive

If you are driving in from Vale Olives parking at Monte Carvoeiro will be a hell of a lot easier than trying to find a parking space in town, also a.lot better for your journey home.
It has its own collection of places to eat and drink as well.

Thanks all. reckon it will do us all good to do a bit of hiking. just hoping the weather will be good...mind you it could not be much worse than the miserable winter we have had in the uk!

Have a look at Rocha Brava - they have three outdoor pools - one heated in winter - if good walkers 20 minute walk to town - courtesy bus three times per day -taxis 4/5 Euro - close to beach - plenty restaurants around - cafe with pool table - tennis courts/table tennis and a gym.
