Probably one for Ellie

Post by miramyra »

Ca you please tell me if it's Est Midlands airport that services Lincoln? and if so how far by car or public transport. Think it's BMI Baby who are the airline for Faro.
thanks very much

East Midlands is one of the closest airport to Lincoln, though to pick hairs the closest is Humberside (don't know if you can get flights to Faro from Humberside though :) ). From Lincoln it takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by car, though it does depend on which route you take and what time of day you travel! Don't know about public transport, the airport is between Nottingham and Derby so it may be worthwhile contacting local rail/bus companies!

Hope this helps.

You can access EMA by public transport from Lincoln using the train to Nottingham station or to the new East Midlands Parkway station, both of which operate shuttle busses to the airport. There is good information about this on East Midlands Airport website. Ryanair also fly to Faro out of EMA.

Humberside is quicker to get to but no flights to Faro. EasyJet are commencing operations out of Doncaster Sheffield from mid April this year, flying to Faro 4 times a week. This airport is again a similar distance but you are less likely to get snarled up in traffic. Prices look pretty good so far; lets hope a bit of competition forces Thompson to reducuce their fares as they have a monopoly on flights to Faro from this airport at present.

Sorry Mira but I can't help as I always fly from Stansted......oldest son doesn't live far from there so we usually pay him a visit and see our gorgeous grandchildren :), either that or he brings them to the airport to see me off!
