ATTENTION: Car Hire 2010
Re: ATTENTION: Car Hire 2010
I posted this yesterday on another car hire thread, it could be true or just the car hire companies trying to get us all to book early.
It does conflict with another story that showed UK vistor numbers down 21% on this time last year, a trend which if it continues would be very bad indeed for the car hire compnies.

Re: ATTENTION: Car Hire 2010
I would imagine the sharp reduction in Engish in tourist accomodation over Christmas and New Year was down to the appalling weather. Our summer bookings are ahead of the norm so far. I think the possibility of a car shortage in the high season is a big danger because of the recession. High season bookings should not only be made early but also with a reliable company which won't let you down.

I agree that owner rentals are up on this time last year BUT it is still the package tourist that supplies the majority and these are being directed by the big companies towards " low cost " destinations.
However do not be surpised to see car prices increased as a result of these suggestions.

Re: ATTENTION: Car Hire 2010
Much like last summer the reduced number of British tourists will probably be replaced by Spanish and people from other Euro based countries so demand for rental cars will be just as high whereas supply may again be limited. If you book early with a good company then you should be safe - its the last minute people who will get stung on price and reliabilty
