Re: Monte Santo Resort
For me one of the greatest assets of living in a democracy is the right of richer folk to lock themselves away from the sweatier peasants. You go for it Senior Dave, and yes I will join you for a G&T and I'll bring the Dom Perignon. Maybe afterwards we'll stroll down to that expensive restaurant and have a spot of lobster. And if you're up for it after maybe we'll indulge is a spot of peasant shooting.
Re: Monte Santo Resort
Any one who saw the prog on the disaster that is the Spanish Costas should understand why so many of us do not want to see a proliferation of Monte Santo type developments.
Its go nothing to do with money or envy but simply the Algarve would no longer be the place it is if this type of development got out of hand.
Those who holiday there now and like it would soon change their minds in Carvoeiro became one of the Costas.
One night we will scrub up sneek in behind a family who look as if they belong and have a good look around.
I am sure we will be impressed.

Bruce Wallis;
you've finally caught on, but don't let my secret out.

No way you can get on to the site!

If you look on http://www.carvoeiro.com newsletters section and look back a couple of months there is a report and photos.
Re: Monte Santo Resort
I think a lot of people want the 'luxury' resorts but don't want to or can't afford to pay the prices that some of the well known restorts demand. Unfortunately this mean that areas like Carvoeiro are at risk of becoming the poor man's Vale do Lobo or Vilamoura. I have friends with property on the Vale do Lobo estate & there is no doubt it is beautiful, most of the estate is but it could be anywhere in the world for all the feel of Portugal you get. I would just hate to see that happen in parts of Carvoeiro.
But I hope that wherever people choose to stay they explore the Algarve at least a little, it is very beautiful.

UPDATE FROM DAVE SENIOR
Right, well, my holiday was over all too quickly and I can safely say that Monte Santo was a great choice for a holiday!
The apartments are perfectly big enough for a week and spotlessly clean. They are also extremely well equipped, with dishwasher, lcd's in lounge and bedroom, jacuzzi, full aircon and a washing machine (do people do washing on holiday?). There was also a massive outdoor jacuzzi on the roof, but we didnt get around to using that one.
The level of service was excellent, and the staff were all very well mannered, extremely attentive and always went out of their way to help with anything they could. But thankfully, they were not hovering around you every 5 minutes asking if everything was alright!
The food restaurant was good too, if a little pricey, due to rubbish exchange rates at the moment.
The outdoor pool is spectacular, and the indoor one is nice and hot, should you be of a weaker constitution
I would definitely recommend it.
Thank you all for your help......I will be back!

I am so pleased you had a great time and wasn't put off by some of the comments.
Re: Monte Santo Resort

Re: Monte Santo Resort
Took a look at this on our way past one day and I must say it doesn't look out of place nor is it an eyesore. The colours are sympathetic to its surroundings and it doesn't stand out as I was led to believe. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but I'd happily spend a couple of weeks there, and would love to own any of the properties thereon.
Re: Monte Santo Resort
Arhusha. Thank you for your attempt to move things back to more pertinent matters. I can confirm that 9 people can be comfortably accomodated on a "bedouin and breakfast" basis.
Re: Monte Santo Resort
We have some friends who wanted to stay here in the summer as it is very close to us, we walked up and they gave us a few details but would not give us any prices? Said could only get a price on the internet? They are looking around the 2nd week of July 2 adults 2 children for 11 nights if any one has stayed and has any idea on the cost can they let me no and I can pass the info on.
Thanks Joe
Thanks Joe

People should think before they post, It's not nice to criticise others, it can be hurtful, you know, have a little more compassion.
