Post by Ellie »

Wasn't it nice to see an ordinary mutt win 'Best in Show 'award at crufts (the 101st) this year?
'Deedee the whippet'!
She beat the best pedigrees and pampered pets that usually win!
Bet Tricky will be deedee..lightful as this nice little pooch comes from Cheshire :)
Im now regretting having poked fun at Michael's whippet !
Well done Deedee..she of the(and I quote) ...big brown eyes and clean aesthetic lines :D

The organisers of Crufts are investigating an allegation that a dog was drugged by saboteurs.
A young Doberman, called Kerri, was one of the favourites to win the breed's Open Bitch category at the UK's top dog show on Saturday.
But as she took to the show ring at the NEC in Birmingham, owners Clive and Nancy Evans claim the 22-month-old became sluggish.
Mr Evans, 44, from Tewkesbury, said: "She was just not herself. She was unco-ordinated, listless and lethargic."
Kerri was pulled out of the contest and taken to the show vet Trevor Turner.
He said: "When I examined her she was quiet, subdued and a little bit wobbly on her back legs. She showed signs of sedation."
But he added it would be difficult to prove the dog was the victim of saboteurs as he did not take a sample of her blood or stomach contents.
Mr and Mrs Evans, who breed Dobermans, have won the Best of Breed category twice.
Mr Evans, a dog warden, believes he has been the target of saboteurs since he was sent an anonymous threatening letter warning him to "watch your back" two years ago.
He fears Kerri may have been fed a piece of meat containing a sedative.
Crufts spokesman Phil Buckley said drugging was "very rare" at the show, with one case reported in the past 20 years, and the claims would be investigated.
