Webcams

Post by shanagarry »

I have just flicked across to the webcam - has there been an earthquake in the square. I know about the roadworks but have they just changed up a gear?

I can't seem to get the Metabixo webcam - all help will be gratefully received as it's the best there is - I believe.

The company (algarvewebcams) which hosted the Metabixo and beach view webcams seems to have folded. Until the Metabixo finds another home for the transmitting of its pictures - that's it.

However, there are two recent cams showing views of the square. Go to this link http://progarve.gotdns.com/cam/ this will take you to www.praiacarvoeiro.com A page will open showing the two views - click on the one you want and choose windows media player option. The picture will then become a movie.

Hello Lesley

I've just tried the progarve link and it works fine for me. Bit puzzled about your mention of a date. The picture just has a digital clock at the bottom that displays the current time (spasmodically!). Not to be confused with the other one below it which starts at zero when you open the video screen.

When the orange page opens up, you click the picture first then select windows media player.

I presume that you are getting as far as the orange coloured page displaying the picture stills.

The best one to check is No. 4 because you can detect it's working by checking the movement of the sea.

Camera 3 sometimes can look inactive after the workers have gone as nothing is moving, except the occasional car in the background and the odd pedestrian.

The clock does freeze now and then so you probably spotted it when it was stopped. You will be better trying tomorrow anyway because there's more going on daytimes.

We're going out early May so it will be interesting to see how far they have got by then!

Bye for now

It really does look like an earthquake has hit CVO , and seems to be getting closer to matabixo all the time. They seem to be working all hours at the minute , so lloks like all will be ok for season. Also the beach is till accessable from the steps at the side of the beach , unfortunately at the moment not great disabled access as you cant get right up to the beach.

Looks like the beach cam is back on line but not updating every minute as it used to. Ad free at the moment as well.

As a matter if interest, since the Metabixo and beach view cams disappeared off the 'webcam galore' site, I googled Metabixo and reached the cams this way on a site called webcams.travel. Both cams provided streaming images. I also googled the Restaurant Hollandaise in Albufeira, because that had also gone from webcam galore. I got direct to their home page and accessed their streaming cam from it.

On the www.webcams.travel/webcam/1227956180 site and click on the webcam pic to go to the streaming version.

Looking at the Portimau webcam has me wondering - are they leaving the Christmas tree up to save some time next December?

See that! One word from me and that Christmas tree comes down the very next day.

Obviously the Portimao authorities read this forum!
