jailhouse, new year

Post by samantha »

must say it was the best new years eve we have EVER had.
The place was buzzing with a very friendly crowd of mixed ages and nationalities. The usual music with bobby plus various guest artists.
The theme this year was "kings & queens" so there were afew Elvis, Cloepatra, Pearly kings and queens, etc etc, but my favourite was the "peking duck"!! brilliant. (and the cake)

Cleo - you do get around! I am wondering what happened to Mrs. Cardigan. Didn't she sit on the stairs and wish for prince charming to sweep her off of her feet? :P

On a personal note I find Jailhouse dreadful. In my opinion I had the best new year ever in that we stayed in until 10.30, had a leisurely walk into town, met our friends in Charlie's and on to the beach for midnight, then back to Charlie's before heading off to Mungo's and then bed..... Brilliant, much better than the time we spent in Jailhouse trying to determine what was being sung and whether or not it was a strangled cat trying to sing!

Glad you enjoyed it Samantha.
We always make a bee line to visit Jailhouse at least once on our visits to CVO. They always are so hospitable. It is a jem and would sorely be missed once gone. I am not saying its the best joint in town, just one to make you smile as long as you do not expect too much. Like many places in CVO as anywhere else it is not one place hat makes it so good to revisit but a mix of all to make you revisit all for their very different reasons be it bars, clubs, reatuarants or whatever.

I agree with Sharen (might have something to do with the fact we were with you) We were out till 4.30 at Mungos dancing etc real good night, shame there was no fireworks as they had been good the year before

Yes Canada darling - and of course its where I met my late husband Cedric Cardigan who had the unfortunate accident (got harpooned on my needles) - I do often sit on the stairs but will have to break the habit as some young men at the bar were eyeing my cleavage - but of course I gave them the cold shoulder...
I can't risk both Demetrius and Asp getting jealous

We had a knees up on the barge (moored by the old Roman bridge in Silves) - and there were some quite dishy policemen aboard, who insisted on a body search (oh no,it was the other way round..)
well-I can't be too careful can I? 8)

Didnt make Jailhouse this year , but last new year was great fun, Always have a laugh in there and Dave will be sorely missed if he leaves.
Nice bar , great in the summer as you dont tend to get the drunk teenagers more of the grown ups .
Mind you my son loves to hear dave playing ( and his jokes ) . It also has a couple of pool tables upstairs , and kids are welcome , so We love it. Sad we missed the New years eve bash , I seem to rememeber attempting to pole dance last year , Craig can confirm if this true !!!
( Not good , get dizzy )

We have only been there twice and can honestly say that the quailty of entertainment ranks alongside much of that seen on " Britains worst ".
However that is its charm, very poor jokes, out of tune singing, guitar etc.

We will go back , of course we will and we will take our visitors with us.

Compared to the " roundup " or most of the Karaoke heard in CVO the Jailhouse is real entertainment for all the family.

I think it's great and it has a good friendly atmosphere. I have taken several friends there and on each occassion we have come out with big smiles on our faces.

I can indeed confirm that Mandy tried to pole dance in Jailhouse ( once seen , never forgotten ! ). By the way Mandy, it was actually 2 years ago. Doesn't time fly when you're having fun?

I do like " good " karaoke , but having seen scenes such as poor Ilze in Mungo,s almaost having to wrestle her mike away from a young , large v inebriated lady who insisted in joining in some form of lisence before you can take part should be mandatory.
Our walk home late at night enjoying the peace and quiet and looking at the stars is sometimes suddenly interupted as we walk pass Phoenix Nights by the sound of baboons mating.
I have now realised it is this that sets off the dogs barking !!
