Hi Lucy

Welcome to CVO.com, we do try to have fun but most of us are also kind and helpful as required. Have to say though my main priority is the fun bit   but it is 1 am and I have had a drink a two.

I take it he didn't have to pay the airfare from Texas (long may it wave), and the dollar was stronger in his day.

Hi Martin

Re the quote which you attributed to Samuel Pepys - correct quotation but I believe it was Samuel JOHNSON who uttered the quote "When a man is tired of London he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford".

Mind, he said that in 1777 - London's changed a bit since then!

well I thought it was Samuel something...mind you I suppose if he were Portuguese he would have been Sergio Pepino.

I quite like a drink or two Bica! So all I need is a dog then :)
Yes ,it was Dr Samuel Johnson(1709-84) said those famous words and though Ive travelled and lived in other parts of UK Im happy to be here(when not in Portugal that is)
Sam Pepys(1633-1703) was the diarist. He was the Sam who witnessed Great Fire in1666.
sorry about that I was slipping into work mode!hope
fire devastated areas are beginning to pick up out there now?
