Re: GOLDCAR - Beware

Well I've used YOR and picked up the car with a full tank and was asked to return with full. Simple, easy, no fuss - what a hire car should be. Totally agree HampshireRich, last thing you want is hassle when you've just landed and want to start enjoying the sunshine. How much did you pay for your c...

Re: ASTRA 2E launched successfully....countdown begins

A quality one can cost 20€ a month during 12 months minimum. No installation costs. Seems a bit on the top side compared to UK but not overly expensive, I would be happy paying that if I was living in CVO AND it was decent service of course. As EMM pointed out though, it's all about the speed. Are ...

What is the average installation and monthly cost of broadband in the Algarve, just out of interest?

Re: GOLDCAR - Beware

:) Must admit I didn't search the forum, I feel so ashamed :( it's a lot easier to search Google and find 35,000 results for 'goldcar scam'. Consider my post a simple way of bringing the issue back to everyone's attention! :)

GOLDCAR - Beware

If anyone is thinking about hiring a car then please stay clear of GOLDCAR - they will charge you for a full tank of fuel at inflated rates when it comes to pick up the car, and ask you to return it empty. We booked with them through a broker and thankfully did some research and managed to cancel an...

Re: ASTRA 2E launched successfully....countdown begins

Well I think you should make it available to all members with 5000+ posts who own property in Carvoeiro and aren't scousers. :) Nice try  I think I would have trouble explaining to my business partner that the reason our network went down is because half of CVO expats are watching Homes Under ...

Re: ASTRA 2E launched successfully....countdown begins

EMM    Is there a system which will allow U.K. channels to be shown on the internet using non U.K. IPS addresses ? There certainly is, it involves renting your own server in the UK for around £20-£30 per month and creating a 'VPN' (Virtual Private Network) to it so it looks like the ...

Re: seeking local knowledge.

Hi, if you're picking your hire car up from across the car park (P4) at Faro airport, make sure you take a good look at the car and take photos of it before setting off... especially if it's Air Auto providing the car. I've just been stung by them for 275 euros. That's the only advice I can give you...

Re: Tolls on the A22

Excellent information Steen, thank you very much. Either way it sounds like a lot of hassle for the car hirer for something which shouldn't be so complicated. If I'm on holiday I don't want to have to fanny around going here there and everywhere just to rent a bloody device and pay my tolls, I'm the...

Re: Tolls on the A22

Also would just like to say I have no problem with the tolls, tell me how much to pay and I'll pay it. It's the complicated nature of how to pay which is driving most people insane. If the hire companies take control of the situation and integrate these transponder payment systems properly with clea...

Re: Tolls on the A22

Foreign-registered cars will be allowed to hire transponders, paying a deposit of €27 and a minimum pre-payment of €50 that will be debited to the account associated with the transponder. Upon returning the transponder, the owner of the foreign-registered vehicle will be debited or credited in acco...

Re: What could you buy with 1 million euros?

We had lunch at Caneiros the other day & they now have the sunbeds just below the restaurant terrace. There were two women sunbathing, well my word, I don't know about a couple of crackers, more like a couple of H bombs! As my husband said "you don't get many of those to the pound". I just might be...

Re: What could you buy with 1 million euros?

There's so many restaurant names I lose track of them all, and I've only been to CVO 3 times thus far which means I walk past restaurants and can't remember whether they've had favourable reviews on this forum or not. So what we're saying is.... the restaurant next door to the Round Up is called Hap...
