Re: New Development

I was over in June and there was great activity on the site. I was also there the second week of August and there were roofers finishing off on one block. The difference between June and August was quite noticeable so plenty of work had gone on in July. Perhaps this week is a holiday week as I under...

Re: New Development

Globetrotter - To reach the entrance to the site you would turn left, (coming from the village up towards Sesmarias), at the new roundabout before the watertower, and first left again down a cul de sac - Colina do Carvoiro. This is before you reach the Carvoeiro Tennis Club. I think Michael has the ...

Re: New Development

Yes Michael "THAT" is the development I refer to. The strange thing about it is the large building with the carpark underneath. Is that a reception or an aparthotel or a small hotel, or what. Why the carpark when each apartment in the other five blocks are said to have a car parking space. The under...

New Development

Can anyone give me information on the development at Colina do Carvoeiro near the Carvoeiro tennis club. The name of the site is Angrinha Heights and appears to be a complex of five blocks of apartments/town houses and one very large building with a carpark underneath.

Went for lunch to this restaurant and found the food very good but we thought rather expensive. Much prefer Metabixa for lunch - the Hawaian Toasty is excellent but we would like a smile from the girl serving, cooking and washing up. Last time we went in she was cleaning the kitchen as well and coul...

Keeping a property dry over winter

We have had a villa in CVO now for three winters without any problems. All we do when we leave in October is set the thermostats to 11 deg so that if the temperature drops drastically the underfloor heating comes on. The underfloor heating goes into the wardrobes and we leave the doors slightly ajar...

Just been out to CVO and taken delivery of our sofas ordered in September. Delivery would have been on time had the driver not gone in the wrong direction from CVO. We are only 5 mins down the road and had given them a good map but the driver had to ring twice to ask the way. Eventually, they arrive...

We have a villa in CVO built about 7 yrs ago with electric underfloor heating. We usually go to the villa end Oct and leave the thermostats set at 11 degrees in most rooms. The heating goes right into the wardrobes and we have had no damp problems. When out in January (just returned) we turned the t...

Last year we replaced our pool cover from a bubble wrap type one to one which looks very much like venetian blinds. It retains the heat, as we have a heated pool, and will hold a child's weight rather than enveloping them in the bubble wrap type. We used a company called SCl down the 125 road from C...

Sofas

Just been out to Cvo and ordered two new sofas from Sofavip. The girls in the showroom are really helpful and we ended up buying two and three seater leather sofas in cream. Looking forward to delivery. The sofa place round the corner (cant remember the name) not very impressive.

Saw the recipe for crab - can anyone tell me where to purchase dressed crab or a dressed lobster. Used to be a place up restaurant hill years ago where you could choose a lobster and they dressed it beautifully for collecting later in the day - wonderful with a dry white wine and crispy toast. Canno...

Koh Samui Thai Restaurant

Just returned from CVO and visited this restaurant for the first time - in fact our first time at a Thai restaurant. Thought it was very nice for a change but there were a lot of things on the menu we were unsure about and felt it would have been better if someone with us could have ordered things f...

L'Orange

Had exactly the same experience as the people who felt they did not want their meal by 10.30p.m. Had a long wait and shall not be going back in a hurry!! Ella and Ellies in the village is far superior.

[quote="Lesley Jean"] Hi Elaine, I am sure you will get better responses than mine but here goes anyway. The trip down from Lisboa to the Algarve using the new motorway only takes 2 1/2 - 3 hours. I would recommend going down the coastal road the N120 towards Vila Nova de Milfontes and staying ...
