Re: Warfarin level tests

The small device is probably a Coaguchek XS which I also use and certainely did in Carvoeiro too. It´s made for hometesting and the reading is equal the one in a proper lab. As an example yesterday I hometested INR 2.7 at home, had the test at the hospital clinic yesterday and the result came in the...

Re: Real Ale in CVO?

Sometimes it´s nice to be a Swede....., our expectations are well below zero of finding anything Swedish while abroad, except for Absolute Vodka and an occasional blonde......which both would be a great asset for a nice holiday though! Apart from that, it´s just "go with the flow" I guess, no worrie...

Villa request

Hi, We´re a Swedish family of four,(two daughter´s 6 + 10 years) that are looking for a villa around Carvoeiro for two consecutive weeks between 7/7 and 8/8 approx. I do realize it´s quite late, but our plans got a bit revised. We´re no strangers to Carvoeiro and have both owned and rented houses in...

I too can certainely vouch for the Kalkbrenner´s. We´ve rented villas through them 4-5 times and they are sincerely helpful and very proffesional. We had a problem with one of the patio door´s once, gave them a ring and a locksmith was there in less then an hour, same thing when we had a problem wit...

Environmental effects in Algarve

I read about the new hotel-resorts being planned and built in the Algarve. Lot´s of money spent. I can´t help thinking if their is any environmental study being done in the respect of the future climate of South Portugal? I do not mean the environmental effect of new hotels being built, I mean if th...

I´ve been working towards the Portuguese textile business since the late 80´s. Problem there was that the money that was made during the good years, was not reinvested to cope with a rainy day. When we visit Algarve, I feel there are about the same thing that was available 15-20 years which are stil...

We visited Palmeira 3-4 times this summer too and same standards and as good as ever. I´ve been visiting North of Portugal for years in business and I think Palmeira is the most genuine restaurant around central Carvoeiro - that´s why we like it. Service is good and it is a relaxed feeling over it a...

O.k.....while we´re at it, there is this also funny looking guy that always saw while visiting Carvoeiro, he´s Portuguese, kind of small and thin, but has the world´s biggest afro hairdo that would have made "Jackson Five" really envious! I never visited Carvoeiro without seeing this guy, I mean if ...

I do not think comparing with home is the issue, it´s comparing
with other tourist-destinations. Compared with that, I think there
are many other places that gives more value nowadays.

Palmeira is my favourite restaurant too. Nice quite genuine food,
reasonable prices, very friendly service and more relaxing then
the places down the road.

Also good for children as there´s plenty of space.

I`m also back after 2 weeks in Carvoeiro. We also found prices in restaurants to have gone up quite a bit. The prices has gone up, but not the quality or value for money and that´s the problem in Portugal overall. I´ve worked with Portuguese textile companies in the north for many years, but the las...

That´s o.k Sam, we just have different opinions which we both
are entitled to. It would be a boring forum without it.

Let´s leave it at that & have a nice weekend.
