Re: Deck Chair Material ?

Dont know if you got your deck chairs sorted, but there used to be a guy on the road into Carvoeiro from Lagoa who sold all finds of fabrics including deck chair type stuff. I got some a while ago to make a new lid for a swing seat and it was really tough.

Re: Learning to speak, read and write Portuguese

Hi Blue Our edificio is in the Dunas development, near Meia Praia, and just across from the station. (From Estrada da Meia Praia, you turn in right opposite the big yellow appt block known locally as Yello Submarine!) It will be a while before we're next out in Lagos, but if anyone wants to know mor...

Re: Learning to speak, read and write Portuguese

Bit of a trip for you but.... We have a holiday home in LAGOS and one of the shops/offices at the bottom of our edificio offers Portuguese language lessons. haven't tried it oursleves, as only there intermittently. If you're interested I can ask some friends who live there full time to get a name/nu...

Re: they didnt like it on dragons den

What do the smug dragons know anyway.... they turned down the little wheely cases that parents pull their delighted children along on.... and anytime I pass through the airport at faro, you see loads of them! http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/unbranded/t/unbranded-trixie-trunki-childs-ride-...

Quad bike import/usage?

Hi Don't live in CVO, but based in UK, and have holiday home. As we get older, we envisage spending more & more time here.... and therefore spending silly amounts on car rental. So here's the plan... use public transport to get from faro, then have some kinda runabout for use whilst here. In fact fo...

Re: help need to hire a car

Something very odd going on...
Just tried AUTO_EUROPE, who have been brilliant in 6 years of coming to the Algarve, and they haven't a small car for next tues for 5 days

Looks like it's the slow train for me (and probably many of you!)

Re: Crockery

The shop in Lagos in the square has some "lovely" crockery, don't know about price though it looks an expensive place. I would recommend this place too.... our appartment is in Lagos, and I still can't remember the name sorry. But, what I would say is it's actually a lot cheaper than it looks, and ...

Re: Charcoal Barbeques

Hi, We bought ours on sale in LECLERC in Portimao a few years back. Bargain price of about 150 euros. I guess it was a "catalogue special" so check out their promos for similar in future. Agree with last post - great to use - all part of the relaxed outdoor living vibe, to wait a while with a cool b...

Just curious, but does one "acquire" a suitable amount of aluminium at one's holiday home to have enough to weigh in?

If only all airlines were like this....

Apologies if this one has been done before, but wouldn't this make a refreshing change from the usual operators we fly with...

Re: Source of olive wood?

Thanks so much for your kind feedback and offer of wood. Any size really... the piece to make the tealight was a section from a branch about 7" diameter and about 5" long. For bowls, you need something a little bigger.

Thanks again

Source of olive wood?

Here in the UK I've recently started woodturning classes which is fascinating. A much prized (and expensive) wood in the UK is olive wood. Anybody know of a good source in the Algarve (cheap or even free?). NExt time I visit our holiday home in Lagos, I could get some to carry home. Here's a tea lig...

Re: Train journey from Faro airport to Lisbon

Morning all. We're flying into Faro in August and hoping to spend a few days in Lisbon first before coming back down to CVO as our accommodation isn't immediately available. Car hire seems very expensive this time (we need an automatic) and, as we don't generally make much use of the car when we ge...
