Re: Supermarket opening times

If you pick up a car at the airport, why not pop into the petrol filling station just off the roundabout by the airport. I am almost sure it is open 24 hours / day and has a good stock of essentials such as milk - also useful if you need fuel to get you to Carvoeiro :)

Re: Gold Car

If you are a previous customer and can log in it will give you the car hire company names and it says all companies have a "fair fuel policy" the negative thing about Economycarhire website is if you are a first time customer you don't have the option of knowing which company you are renting from u...

Re: good car hire companies ??

Following Steens advice, I booked my kids a car with Economy Car Hire. These people seem to be an agency, but we got a good deal, but they didnt specify the hirer. When my son got the paperwork, it specified the rental company as Travelrent, the company that had quoted me twice as much, before I bo...

Re: good car hire companies ??

thanks for your advice on algarve driver but they dont have any cars for the 2nd to 6th april. Have you tried economycarhire? Just checked their web site and they seem to have cars available between those dates. If you choose Travelrent as the supplier, they do not have a 'fuel policy' which would ...

Re: My Algarve car rental

I know this is contentious & open to mis-interpretation but............ For 11 days in a Ford Fiesta 5 door with aircon from 27th Feb to 9th March Algarve Driver charge €120.14 + €77 excess insurance cover = €197.14 For 11 days in a Ford Fiesta 2 door without aircon from 27th Feb to 9th March Drive...

Re: Round Up

Hi Jayney,

Have you thought of calling all the possible numbers? If only 1 digit is cannot be read, you would only have to make a maximum of 10 calls to be sure of getting the correct one.

FAO Lamby, Avo wrote "Just a word of advice Lamby - check the small print and look at the excess they will need to ring fence on your card. Or the amount they will charge for the added insurance. I always tell people to shop around but read the small print!" Without wishing to repeat myself, economy...

Re: Car hire (again!!)

Hi Lamby, We find economycarhire.com to be not only one of the best for price, but their service is second to none. I personally prefer to use Travelrent from their list of suppliers, but have used Drive4fun in the past without problem. Doing a quick check, economycarhire are asking £179 for a 4 (5)...

Re: Supermarkets

Hi Laurac, Have you considered getting one of the euro debit cards like the Fairfx one? You pre-load it before going abroad, then you can either use it to pay in shops just like a normal debit card or you can withdraw cash at an ATM (for only a 1.50 euro charge with the Fairfx euro card). I got one ...
