Re: Monte Santo Resort

Now there's an idea.....you could form a branch of Cheshire WAGs in Carvoeiro.....and have girly evenings sipping chardonay at Monte Santo. I was just jesting..I'd rather stick pins in my eyes. However I do like wine and good company and nice clothes and jewellery  However I'm just m...

Re: Monte Santo Resort

I'm thinking of going to Carvoeiro for the first time this year and would be grateful if anyone could tell me what the resort is like that I am thinking about booking. I found these holiday villas at Monte Santo Resort ( http://www.montesantoalgarve.com ). It looks very nice on the web site but has...

Re: Monte Santo Resort

I'll just settle on it being called "The Blot". Ugly, bland and typically fooballer-esque. (I like to imagine Mock Tudor mansion in Alderley Edge). You know what...a bit of initiative, a bit of balls (not golf alas) and a study of the true CVO may have produced a half decent result. It's like someon...

Re: Monte Santo Resort

Ah, so that would be the place that made me weep (not in joy) on my last visit a few months ago ! Unexpectedly hit in the face by the development as I was driving to Sesmarias ! Hmmmmmm. :? Where is the character ? Maybe sterile suits many folk but for me you could be anywhere....I felt saddened by ...

Re: Cocktails anyone!

I love the decor and ambience in Bar Talvez. I wandered in early one evening alone as I was waiting for someone else to get ready and didn't want to sit around doing nothing. I didn't want to leave after three strawberry Daiqui's (or however you spell them !)

Re: Bella! Bella!

We only tried this restaurant for the first time a few weeks ago after reading the superb reviews on here and what a fantastic night we had. Perfect balance of attentive and yet unobtrusive service, delightful food and a cracking bottle of wine. I will be celebrating my 40th in CVO during October an...

The web site is a bit annoying - I soon tired of the seagulls gulling and the waves waving  The biggest drawback with the site is the lack of any rates. It is impossible to work out what your stay might cost. However, I do believe they are open to 'negotiation', especially when they're not bu...

Hospital Particular....oh yes ! I've spent a few dazed hours / days in there with my dad who succumbed to food poisoning (suspected shellfish) a few years ago and it put a few stresses on his heart. Once his sytem had been "cleansed" he was warned to keep off rich foods. So upon his "release" we ven...

Re : Crazy World- only to agree with posts before - it's a sad state of affairs. Run-down and not a great way to spend a few hours yet alone a day. :(

Please post about your dolphin experience. Would love to give it a go when we next visit.

You know what...I'd like to apologise for my initial outburst re. Grinch. In fact a couple of years ago I remember posting regarding the "new hotel bulding work" which included the "Mirachoro Praia" hotel upon the hill. How I used to remember CVO - well it was still a village, with the villas dotted...

Lagoa was recommended for shopping, waste of time! I hope you all enjoy your life / holidays in CVO but you should really try somewhere else! Its a big world out there. Goodbye! And as a final word, no its not a wind-up! Actually I'm just back from a villa holiday in Cape Coral south-west Florida a...

Re: Carvoeiro

I won't be back! Good. Obviously you can't really see straight so maybe you took a wrong turn at Benidorm ! Did you get off your backside and hire a car ? Did you manage to tear yourself away from your hotel package and see some of the outstanding natural beauty sights right on the doorstep ? Did y...

Never encounted anything but politeness at Faro airport. Last year my dad had some "oversized" baggage and I'd already proceeded through security. They "Outsized" baggage area actually needed to verify that I was there as somehow my name was on the goods. I explained to security who opened up all th...

A few years ago I needed to spend a night at the Carvoeiro Sol Hotel and I was awoken at 1am by an almighty scrap in the square. There must have been over 20 men involved. Actually it felt pretty scary. It seemed to last for ages and I remember lying in bed and still much later hearing the distant a...
