The maid has only been with us a few months so I feel a months extra salary is an awful lot to give her. Do you really think this would be what she'd be expecting?

This will be our first xmas living out here and was just wondering what most people give their maid or/and gardener for xmas. They both only come once a week for 3-4 hours so not full time. Should I be giving an xmas bonus or would a gift be acceptable.

A lot of my friends are Portuguese and say it is pronounced like the car without the 's'! I always used to pronounce the s and they corrected me. Does anyone else now what is the correct way of saying it?

Not sure what the opening hours are but it is great bar. You should definatly go. You can't beat the view from the terrace!

The other ones everyone gets wrong are Porches - which is pronounced like the car porshe and the 's' at the end is silent. Also Portimao and Armacao de pera. You don't prnounce the 'ao' at the end as A O. It has an 'ow' sound (like when you hurt yourself and you say 'ow')

Having read the reviews on here I wasn't sure what to expect but i have to say I loved it. It has a fab view over the beach, by far the best view of any bar in the town. The decor is great too. Its a million times better than the old nightclub that used to be there. How can anyone not want to sit on...
