Re: Growing Cannabis in Portugal
Although Portugal has decriminalised end user drug use/possession, the police take a much harder line as they move up the chain of supply. Cultivation is seen as part of that supply route and those caught growing plants will have a problem. Having said that, a couple of plants would probably, though...

Re: Sexual Assaults on young girls 2004 to 2010
It's important to keep a sense of perspective. In general, Carvoeiro and the Algarve is relatively safe but nowhere is 100% crime free, common sense and sensible practises will significantly reduce the likelihood of being a victim. Unfortunately Del.orean most sexual assaults are likely to go unrepo...

Re: Woman in distress
If she is as you've described and is not in apparent danger, approaching her is unlikly to improve her situation or yours. Contact the police who will be in a position to organise professional help.

Re: rental licence
I'm sure there are those who take a chance and rent without a licence. What you have to consider are the implications if you are caught by the authorities. Financial penalties, impact on any substantial insurance claim, potential tax investigations in both countries. Information is shared so easily ...

Re: Pego do Inferno, Tavira
It had been closed a few months before the fires, due I think to some safety issues. As far as I'm aware there are no plans, money or indeed inclination to open it, which is a shame as it did attract a large number of visitors. One of the charms of the (Eastern) Algarve is its simplicity but that ca...

Re: Unpleasant experience in Carvoeiro
As long as there is a demand, there will be suppliers. The GNR will no doubt have occasional crackdowns and a few people will disappear but the void will be filled immediately, it's not just applicable to Carvoeiro It's universal and the use of drugs is now firmly embedded in our society. The best y...

Re: an end to airline baggage charges?
Hi all, Nice entrepreneurial idea but I suspect short lived. There's no way Mr O'Leary or the other budget airlines will stand for this. An aircraft full of Michelin men, women and children trying to dodge the lucrative baggage limits. I'm sure they've been fretting for some time, over people wearin...

Re: Another Burglary
Hi all, I'm sorry to hear of your burglary DVBRO, it's a very unsettling experience. I appreciate you were less than happy with your previous dealings with the GNR but would urge you to reconsider your decision not to report this crime. Burglary where the premises are occupied is far more serious th...

Hi all,
I noticed these adverts, clearly illegal, nice easy paper trail. It was only a matter of time before there was the early morning knock at the door.
It looks like a can of worms about to opened, not just for the suppliers but also the people who purchased them.

Frank

Hi all,
I understand Macota has been closed down by the authorities.
I won't go into details here but It is unconnected with the day to day business.
I would advise you to contact a solicitor asap alternatively contact the GNR in Olhao.

Frank

Re: Learning to speak, read and write Portuguese
Hi all, When we first bought our house in Portugal we also started with the books and DVD collection. I suppose we commenced at a gallop and ended up limping along. Once we'd spent more time in the Algarve we realised we could get by quite easily with a basic knowledge of the language as so many spe...
