VAT refund at Faro airport

I would be interested to hear if anyone has claimed a vat refund at Faro airport for a purchase to be taken back to the UK. I have checked for advice online but I suspect some of the information may be out of date.
Many thanks if you can help.

Is there anyone there?

Not much activity on the forum recently, but I hope someone out there can help me. I would like to hear from anyone who has experience of making a formal complaint about a Portuguese based lawyer. I have a potential dispute and not sure of the best way to go forward.
Any advice welcome.
Thank you.

Re: Fiscal Representation

At last we have found our ideal property, not in CVO but Ferragudo. Our offer has been accepted, and now we could use some advice and recommendations on the buying process. We would like to buy through our UK company, and as we intend to rent for part of the year I understand we will need to appoint...

Re: Vale do Milho - Good location to buy?

Thanks Dave, it's good to hear more positive comments on VDM. We're due out in the next few weeks, so even more enthusiastic about looking around the area, and viewing some properties.

Re: Vale do Milho - Good location to buy?

Thank you so much Carolyn and Ellie. This is just the kind of feedback I was hoping for. In particular it's good to hear about security as we intend to use the property as a family holiday home and not rental, so there will be periods of absence through the year. I'll see how the viewing goes, but I...

Re: Vale do Milho - Good location to buy?

Thanks Braken.
I checked out Vale d'Oliveiras, but could only find 2 bed apartments, so not really suitable.
Certainly not overwhelming support for Vale do Milho at the moment though. Wonder why?

Vale do Milho - Good location to buy?

I am considering purchase of a 3 bed villa on Vale do Milho for family use. I am familiar with the Carvoeiro area, but not so much VDM, so any views from local residents would be very much appreciated. In particular I'm thinking of possible security issues, service charges, and general standard of m...

Re: Where can we eat?

Thank you Geoff and Roy for your suggestions. There are quite a few we have never tried. We have been to Escondidinho a number of times, so as Recanto Boa Vista is operated by the same family that's certainly on our list. Oregano also looks interesting, in fact we may need to sample all of them. It'...

Where can we eat?

Hi to all,

We're coming out to CVO early Feb, and would appreciate any information on what restaurants are likely to be open in CVO and Ferragudo. Our previous favourite, Ele & Ela, is sadly no longer, so advice on suitable replacements would be very welcome.

Thanks
BrIan

Re: Portuguese Residency

Thanks Widge.
Looks like we will have to be satisfied with a maximum of 180 days a year, still better than 180 days in Bromley!!

Re: Portuguese Residency

Hi Widge,

I was not aware of this. Bought in 2004 and sold in 2012, so could be worth further investigation, or have I missed the boat?

Re: Portuguese Residency

Hi Geoff

Not so Golden Visa then! Marry an EU citizen? Might have to speak to the wife about that.

Re: Portuguese Residency

Hello to all, I am planning to return to CVO as a property owner after a gap of 10 years. Now I'm in the fortunate position of being able to stay for extended periods this subject is of great interest. I've done some research, but I'm still unclear on how the Golden Visa scheme works. Does anyone ha...
