True - you can't get Freeview Digital as that is UK terrestrial. You can get the Non-Subscription channels though through the Sky dish. See http://www.sky.com/ordersky/channelpackages You will need a viewing card though to decrypt the signal. It is this viewing card that I believe now costs £20 one-...

I have heard that for a 1 off £20 to Sky (from a UK address) you can now get the card that gives you the free to air channels.

Yeap - thats the price for Pure Sine wave inverter (actually its a 2.3Kw Studer) so you can even run your PC and radio from it (but we've only thought of TV, Fridge & Lights!).

Wind turbines are audibly intrusive and probably best suited to the West coast where there is more consistent wind. Just to give you an idea of the likely costs based on quality branded equipment (BP, Studer, Outback Power and BAE). Note that there is a high 'fixed' cost element of an installation w...

Yeap! Thats what our electricity meter shows. As for the number of panels that's tricky to be exact because it depends how finicky you are about not running out of power when a cloud or two come over. I would suggest 15 x BP 175W panels for each 10KWh required per day! Whilst panel ratings suggest a...

UK and Portugal use different signals (PAL-G and PAL-D I think).
If you connect using a Scart or Video lead there should be no problem but if you use the TV aerial then you will run into difficulties with sound unless the TV set 'understands' the DVD encoding.

These are thin and small heaters which use (and hence emit) less energy than bigger units. OK for wardrobes I would guess although if they can cause a fire if inadvertently covered then they don't sound as though they are really designed to the expected safety standards - there should be a thermal c...

I would seriously suggest a fixed price based on them viewing what needs to be moved unless you like surprises. We had 42m3 to shift but this expanded into 52m3 once it was loaded into the lorry and, after taking about 15m3 out the rest fitted easily into a 32m3 storage unit. Caused a bit of bad fee...

Many of the low cost solar panels available from the US are ex a v.large power plant and date back quite a few years. They were subjected to excessive exposure with the use of reflectors. There are a few I have seen installed over Boliqueme way (a job lot found its way there several years ago) and a...

Solar Power Installations

Grid tie applications are already 100% over the government applied quota which they base on the EDP grid capability. It could be years before new grid tie installation applications will receive approval. However this is not a problem for stand alone installations but capital cost can be an issue as ...
