Roma
I went to Roma the other evening, but haven't posted a review yet as I am still unsure about it.
The setting is still wonderful - in fact improved by the changes to the pond, and inside now looks much more welcoming than it used to. I am not, however, too sure about the Thunderbirds outfits the staff are wearing.
The menu is now more standard European (maybe with a little more Portuguese influence than some), and the prices seemed quite high - but in fact the bill was not unreasonable.
The food was too quick for me, and the timing did not entirely work - they were preparing my steak whilst my wife was still eating her starter. However, the food was generally rated as good quality.
I think the reason that I am still not sure about the restaurant is the management - despite there only being about 5 tables in, and having been open only a month, the owner made no attempt to 'walk the floor' - indeed he sat with half a dozen friends at the next table towards the end of our meal and just ignored his customers.
I think if the food could be slowed down a little and the management could have a little attempt at customer relations (a free glass or port might help), then this could become a regular haunt; as it is I am struggling to persuade my wife to return.
In other words - I am no help at all - go and make your own mind up!
