Don't bother - over-priced, tiny portions, food comes out suspiciously quickly - not impressed at all!

I think different. I was there with my wife and two friends a week ago. The food was ok; the ambience was ok and the price was also ok!
And specialy the girl behind the bar looked ok!! I think her name is Mariana (please don't tell my wife; otherwise...........!)

I thought it was OK. Few points. I asked specifically for fresh orange juice and it was from a carton. but they were happy to change it for me which was fine. The portion sizes were ok and the menu selection was good. My food was tasty. The only gripe is that I often eat out on my own, and it was one of the places that rushed my food so I was in and out within 30 minutes on a 3 course meal. Other couples were only just starting their main course that had arrived the same time as I did.

I also had a pizza takeaway one night and that was yummy! It is a very busy restaurant, so don't expect to walk in and get a table right away in August.

We've just returned from Carvoeiro, and enjoyed 3 lovely meals in Villa Medici. The staff are so friendly (especially Paulo) and the food both very good and reasonable. On our last night in CVO we had a meal there, and because of my love for very hot piri-piri, I was given a jar of homemade sauce to take home  Would definately recommend their pizzas. Lovely crisp thin base, with generous toppings. Their sparking house white wine was soooo nice :D

Italian food

 Just had a meal here last week and it was very good. Portions generous. Very busy, mainly cos of location but aso cos of quality of food. They were so busy they were telling people to go over to the bar over the road and they would come and get them in 20 mins or so and took their names . It was funny watching them race over the road when a table was free and call for the diners. This was a great idea and kept everyone happy and did not let the front of house look messy with crowds milling around waiting for tables. We were sitting outside just by the top of the steps in a lovely position and was able to watch and hear what was happening.

Like you baggysallyjane we had the table outside the kitchen, and spent most of the meal watching the kitchen staff cooking and serving up all the dishes. It was a lesson in itself. One thing that did make us laugh was the girl cooking the steaks, I think from the look on her face she must be a vegetarian. But apart from that a very organised kitchen and good food.
My only comment would be that the starters are a bit limited If you are having pizza don't order the pizza panne as a starter,it's a pizza in itself!!

I live on top of the "bar over the road from the Villa Medici" and spend a lot of time in the bar. It was funny over the weekend as one of the waiters had a refillable beer on the bar that presumably was his "reward" for bringing over so many customers!
