WALK MONDAY 11th MAY - TWO RIVERS

Post by williew »

In the absence of Linda & Russell, this week's walk (11th May) will be led by Carol & Debbie. It is one of the Carvoeiro Ramblers classic walks.

It is the popular Two Rivers walk by the confluence of the Arade and the Odelouca rivers around the Ilha de Rosario. A fairly easy walk with nice views of the river and Silves, about 8km. There are two options available - the traditional flat route or the option of up and over the hill. A decision will be made on the day.

Start : 10.00, but please try to arrive at the start by 9:45. Duration : About 2 hours, around 8km.

Degree of difficulty (Scale 1-5) : 2 (both options)

Meeting point: Mira Ria Restaurant, Vale de Lama: N124

Directions: from Carvoeiro - cross the bridge into Silves & turn left on the N124 towards Monchique/Portimao. After a little under 5 km you will see the Mira Rio cafe & restaurant on your left after a sharpish right hand bend. Parking is at the café. You can also take the N124 from Portimao to Silves and the café is 5km on the right.

The restaurant has recently been closed on a Monday but this may have changed.

No formal lunch is planned and possible venues will be discussed on the day.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk. The current weather forecast is for 30-50% chance of rain and hopefully this will not stop us walking - we have walked in worse! If things are not looking good a note will be placed on the web site by 9am.

Carol can be contacted on c.whitesmith@sky.com or +447715174724.

Hi,
I'd like to come and also bring a friend Phillip who is a keen walker.
Not lunch this time though.

It is raining here in Carvoeiro but we are still going to the start of the walk where we will do a rain check.

I am confident all will be good!

Last minute cancellation for me today. I’ve just seen the rain outside and all my waterproof gear is in London so I risk having a rather miserable time…I think I’d be wise to give today a miss and try again next week. Very sorry for late notice (and inadequate packing last month).

Ten walkers today, plus Mia. We went over the hill and turned right at the bottom coming back via the lovely viewpoint where Mia had a swim.
A wee but of drizzle at the start but then all dry.
Eight of us then had lunch at ‘Chicken in the Gutter’.
