WALK - MONDAY 3 FEBRUARY 2025 - CALDAS DE MONCHIQUE -CLOSED

[Linda and Russell]

Linda and Russell will be leading this walk which is around 10 kms approximately 2 1/2 hours. Start time: 10 am. Meeting point: Foz Do Banho restaurant, just before Caldas De Monchique
There are a couple of steep hills but we will enjoy lovely views from the top. This is a grade 4 walk (hard). The usual rules apply, walk at your own risk, wear suitable footwear, bring a walking pole if you use one, bring a drink and no charge.

The cafe is not open on Mondays but we can drive back down to Rasmalho for the set menu lunch.

Directions: From Lagoa: drive West along the N125 to the Monchique turn off at Portimao. Drive up the N266 towards Monchique for about 13kms until you see restaurant Foz Do Banho on the left side of the road, just before a roundabout. Park just below the restaurant.

Only one cancellation this week so 19 hardy walkers and 2 tough dogs set off in the cool air of Caldas de Monchique. We soon warmed up after the big hill near the start. The ground had dried up nicely and we set a good pace. Russ says you were all good walkers and are allowed to come again. After the walk we drove down to Rasmalho and 18 of us enjoyed a nice lunch at the cafe there.
